DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT
Terrazzo cement and plastic
Every decision we make in our daily lives somehow affects the world around us - the community, the environment and living beings.
Change begins in our thoughts, then in our homes and finally in our lifestyles.
Terrazzo is a robust material made from a mixture of ground minerals such as marble, granite or quartz and cement. In this case, we're going to replace the minerals with upcycled plastic.
What we're going to do:
Each participant will create a utility object made from cement and plastic. The object could be a vase, a pen container or a coaster.
We'll learn about the characteristics of the materials used and how to make a mold to make the final piece. We'll also talk a little about the creative process and how we can use so many objects and materials around us to create unique pieces.
What we'll learn and experience:
- Part design
- Designing a mold
- Mold techniques
- Materials and their characteristics
- Part color and finish
Material included:
Cement, sand, acrylic, spoons, containers, sandpaper, scales, sealer, cardboard, white glue, rubber strips, wooden bases, particle masks, gloves (Tables, chairs, water, and protections for the tables).
Materials needed:
Each participant should bring 1 or several pieces of plastic that are easily broken - these can be toys, lids, containers.

2 hours
Maximum number of participants: 10 people
