Gypsum Mold Workshop // €125

Plaster molds allow the reproduction of objects in different materials, either for functional or artistic purposes.

In this workshop we will make open molds (surfaces) and two-part molds (simple three-dimensional objects). In the last session we will fill the molds with slip to create ceramic replicas of our original models.

This course is aimed at people who want to get started in the world of molds. Participants will learn to calculate volumes, techniques to build the molds, formulas and mixing of materials, curing and drying process, maintenance of tools and workspace, etc. They will also have an introduction to slip collage, and get to know the endless plastic possibilities from this technique. Each participant will take home 3 ready-to-use functional (or sculptural) pieces, 2 molds, and enough knowledge to continue experimenting with these techniques independently.

The workshop includes all materials and tools, and the firing and glazing of up to 3 pieces.*

Day 1: OPEN MOLDS - Surfaces | (11/7) 10:00 - 15:30 - Sunday

Creating a clay surface

Preparation and elaboration of an open mold

TWO-PART MOLDS - Three- Dimensional Objects

Analysis of a simple three-dimensional everyday object

Preparation and elaboration of a two-part mold

(Snack included on the patio during the drying interval.)

DAY 2: FILLING THE MOLDS BY LIQUID METHOD (11/13) 10:30 - 12:30 - Saturday
