DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT
Rag Rugs
Every decision we make in our daily lives somehow affects the world around us - the community, the environment and living beings.
Change begins in our thoughts, then at home and finally in our lifestyle.
Every piece of fabric, every item of clothing we buy will never leave our planet. They remain forever either in a house somewhere or in a landfill.
Rag rugs are rugs made from scraps of fabric, usually from clothes or fabrics that have been recycled in order to reuse them, giving them a second life.
What we're going to do:
Each participant will start their own mini rug made from textile waste (T-shirts and old clothes and scraps). We'll make a simple design chosen in advance. Participants will choose the colors and patterns and composition.
We'll learn a bit about sustainability and how to see waste as material to create something new - upcyling.
What we'll learn and experience:
Characteristics of the materials and tools needed
Simple tapestry technique
Composition, patterns and colors
Final finishes
Material included:
wooden frame, jute, needle, fabrics, glue, brushes, containers, scraps, scissors (tables, chairs and table protectors).
Materials needed:
Each participant will need to bring 3 pieces of old clothing to make their mini rug. It can be any type of garment - a T-shirt, dress, pants, with or without patterns, cotton, denim or silk.
Workshop duration: 2.30 hours
Maximum number of participants: 10 people
Cost: 60€
