Introduction to Natural Dyeing // 40€

Sobre o evento
The Introduction to Natural Dyeing workshop is a personalised class where you will learn how to use locally available plants to dye. For each workshop the students can choose between three natural dye techniques: Dye baths, bundle dyeing, and eco printing. Only one technique will be covered in each class, to learn all three you will need to book three sessions.
Dye baths - Dye baths are the foundation of natural dyeing, used to achieve solid colours on fabric. In this introduction you will learn how to pre-treat fabrics, how to extract colours from plant matter and how to apply them to fabric. We will also cover some techniques on how to modify colours and how to create dynamic patterns using shibori folds. As a participant, you will dye and take home two fabric samples and an organic cotton tote bag. Additionally, you will take home a beautiful informational booklet with all the relevant information for you to continue your dye practice from home.
Bundle dyeing - Bundle dyeing is a fun and creative way to get colour from plants that is more abstract and experimental than the traditional dye bath process. Instead of achieving a solid color, we will use the plant material to create the pattern on the fabric. As a participant, you will dye and take home two fabric samples and a silk scarf. Additionally, you will take home a beautiful informational booklet with all the relevant information for you to continue your dye practice from home.
Ecoprinting - Ecoprinting is my personal favourite dye method because it magically captures the direct print of the plant. In this workshop, you will get to ecoprint on fabric and paper while learning how to select plant matter that will work for this method and all the factors that will affect the outcome. As a participant, you will dye and take home two fabric samples and an organic cotton tote bag. Additionally, you will take home a beautiful informational booklet with all the relevant information for you to continue your dye practice from home.
